Alluring ruins of the oldest private castle in Poland, first recorded in written sources in 1108. Between C13 and C18 it was owned by the Świnka (von Schweinichen) noble family, famed in the Middle Ages for its fondness of strong drink. Their coat of arms is visible above the entrance beyond the moat bridge. The Świnkas built in C14 in Gothic style the tower, the oldest surviving part of the structure, which dominates the castle hill and is visible from afar. The castle was plundered (in 1762), damaged by three hurricanes (in 1840, 1848, 1868) and finally (in 1876) ravaged by fire. It's in private hands now, but visits can be arranged by calling Mr Bogdan on +48601429666.
