Latin Bridge and Museum of the Sarajevo Assassination

The branch of the Museum of Sarajevo is located in the building in front of which Princip shot the heir to the throne and his wife.

The memorial plaque regarding the murder of the Austrian Archduke and his wife was replaced 6 times. Depending on the political situation, the assassin was sometimes a folk hero, sometimes a terrorist. Today the board is fact-based neutral.

The city stretches west-east on the Sarajevo plain in the midst of the Dinaric Mountains. The Miljacka River flows through the town; the Bosna rises west of the city in the municipality of Ilidža from a karst spring. The plain is surmounted by the mountains of Bjelašnica and Igman in the south-west and Jahorina and Trebević in the south-east.The city center is 511 meters above sea level. The suburbs reach up to over 900 meters. The mountains around the city are mostly forested and up to 2,000 meters high.
