The master builder Hans Kogler from Erding built the church between 1713 and 1719, it was lavishly furnished by Christian Jorhan the Elder. A few years ago the Marienkirche was extensively and lavishly renovated, so that today it shines again in its old splendor. The place itself was probably a place of power and thing place in pre-Christian times.
Unfortunately not open during my visit. From the outside, the church made an impression on me that needed renovation.

The patronage "Maria (or in other spelling :) Assumption" of this church refers to one of the many days of commemoration or feast days in honor of Mary, the Mother of God. It goes back to the feast of their physical acceptance into heaven, which the Church celebrates annually on August 15th.
In many rural areas it is customary that on this day herbal bundles (called "Kruggweusch" in the Rhenish dialect) are collected by the population and blessed in the festival service.
