The landmark of Sternenfels is the Schlossbergturm, which was built as a water reservoir (so not an old keep!). The tower can usually be climbed on weekends and offers a magnificent view of the Kraichgau and the Palatinate Forest. Also on weekends (in the summer months) a beer garden invites cyclists and hikers to linger.

As early as the beginning of the 13th century, a castle was built here by the Lords of Sternenfels as their ancestral seat. Unfortunately, the castle was demolished in 1778 and torn down until 1780. Today only ramparts and moats remain from the castle.
In 1866 a first observation tower was built at this point, which had to be opened and demolished again in 1966 due to its dilapidation. A year later, in 1967, a second, 14-meter-high water tower with a viewing platform was built in the style of the former keep. In the Schlossberg tower there is an exhibition on the history of the Lords of Sternenfels and the geology of Stromberg and Heuchelberg.
A small entrance fee has to be paid for access to the tower (see the prices on the attached pictures). The tower is open from the beginning of April to the end of October every Thursday and Friday from 4 p.m., Saturday from 2 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.

Great view from the tower in all directions.
