The foothills of the Jura south of the Danube, which extend furthest to the west, descend here in an approx. 30 m high rock face to the Danube and to the small pair.
The Danube forced a breakthrough here at Unterhausen / Stepperg.
In the 19th century, parts of the Jura reef were blown away to extract material for fortifying the Danube.
Not far from the Felsenspitz, the Kleine Paar unites with the Friedberger Ach, which finally flows into the Danube after a few hundred meters.
