small, inconspicuous chapel next to the Sankt Barbara church on the Eixelberg.
On September 21, 1670, Maximilian Phillip, Duke of Bavaria and Landgrave von Leuchtenberg, a great admirer of Mary, the mother of God, laid the foundation stone for the chapel. Construction was completed in December 1671.
The master builder was the Pfreimder town builder Zacharias Amode, who came from the French-speaking region.

The Loretto Chapel was built by the mason Zacharias Amode from Pfreimd at his own expense. The chapel is intended to serve in honor of Our Lady of Loretto.
The foundation stone of the building was laid by Duke Maximilian Philipp of Bavaria in September 1670. But not built.
The Pfreimder craftsman wanted to show that he, too, was able to build a chapel without the support of the church or state. Maybe a rebel of his time. It is worth a visit, especially when the restaurant on the Eixlberg is open.
