The water is said to have a healing effect, so there are many cars here to take the water away by the canister.

Why the water is not drinking water
Because the pH is low, heavy metals could theoretically dissolve in the rock. "But we haven't heard anything about that," says Kühn. The water is not examined. Many people would still bottle the water and take it with them. Kühn himself prefers tap water from the public utility company, which largely comes from springs in the city forest. A sign indicates that the spring water is not potable and that the well was redone in 2005.

history of the source
According to the responsible forest office in Villingen-Schwenningen, the spring was tapped in the 1930s. It arises from a layer of earth between granite and Bundstandstein. This granite belongs to the massif of the Eisenbach granite. "Back then, people hoped to find water containing radium," explains Tobias Kühn, head of the forestry department. At that time, consumption was still considered to be beneficial to health. "They wanted to promote the spa idea." The name was 'Dr. Joseph Goebbels source'. However, the analysis showed that it is an ordinary source in terms of the ingredients, without radium and other distinguishing features. "The NSDAP district leadership then prohibited the use of the name Dr. Goebbels. And that's how the Romäusquelle came about," reports the head of the forestry office.
