The corn mill on the Kortedijk is already mentioned in a privilege that Count Willem van Holland gave to the city of Vlaardingen on 23 August 1407. In 1954 the mill was sold to the Municipality of Vlaardingen, which had it restored. On that occasion the mill was named "Aeolus" (Aeolus is the name of the God of the wind).
After the restoration, the mill was leased as sales and storage space to "Samenwerking", now the Cooperative Association "Maasmond".
Since April 1, 1977, there has been a split. Maasmond continued to keep its sales in the warehouse and the mill is from that time back into full operation by the Niek Boekestijn family from Maasland and after the blades were replaced in 1977, the mill is running at full speed again every day to grind the grain for the warm bakers.
Currently there is a mill shop where flour and bread mixes can be bought.

At Aeolus mill shop you will find a wide range of flour, flour, bread mixes, cookie mixes and cake mixes. In the mill, grain is still traditionally ground on windmill stones or on the electric milling couples. Our professional miller also mixes bread and pastry mixes on a daily basis so that you always get the best and freshest quality products.
