Framed by the imposing ridges of the Serrat de l’Oriol and Sant Segimon, on a small hill excavated by the Erola stream and the Rentadors torrent, stands the Casa de la Sala de Viladrau.
The oldest part of the house dates back to the 14th century, when it was fortified and transformed into a Domus with a fence wall and a watchtower. The central body must be dated to the 17th century.
Although the first documents about the house date from 1356, the oldest news and the name of Sala itself allow us to trace its origins back a few centuries.
In 1594, Joan Sala i Ferrer, alias Serrallonga, the greatest bandit in history, was born in the Sala de Viladrau.
