Castelltallat Astronomical Observatory

Located beside the local road BV-3003. The place is well marked with signs.

An astronomical observatory inaugurated in 2004, is located in the Sierra de Castelltallat in the municipality of Sant Mateu de Bages on a hill at 911 meters above sea level, where there are also the ruins of the castle of Montedono which has its origins in the seventh century.

The Serra de Castelltallat is a very depopulated place, there is only the presence of some farmhouses that make very little light at night, the situation of the Observatory, a thousand meters high, and isolated from any town, makes become a privileged place for sky observation.
