Rangsdorf Beach

Strandbad Rangsdorf is a lovely little surprise as you cycle into Rangsdorf. The town, which is worth a visit in itself, is an easy 90 minutes from Berlin on stretches of the smoothest asphalt around.

The lake is visually very beautiful almost everywhere. I find it unsuitable for bathing and swimming. Maximum water depth only 1.8 m with a decreasing tendency due to Siltation. After about 300 m of walking into it, you are just knee-deep inside. Another 100 m and everything is full of vegetation, which makes swimming a few meters difficult. In spring and autumn, the lake is populated by flocks of migratory birds that donate nutrients, and around 150,000 birds are on site to refresh themselves. The legacies make the lake cloudy, a few days ago the water on the legs was "pee-warm" and the visibility was less than 5 cm!
