A marvel set in the greenery at the foot of the Pisan mountains. The Nottolini aqueduct continues to Lucca, exactly behind the train station. At the end is the small temple of S. Concordio. Unfortunately 6 arches were collapsed for the construction of the Florence-sea motorway. Despite the interruption, you can go through the entire aqueduct from the path that runs next to it and at the point of crossing the motorway you go up a staircase and a footbridge.

The Tempietto di Guamo is a building with a circular plan in the Doric neoclassical style. It represents the beginning of the aqueduct designed by Lorenzo Nottolini. In this small temple the waters coming from 18 sources of pure water of the Serra Vespaiata, Rio San Quirico and Rio della Valle were conveyed.
This is the starting point for the 3.2 kilometer long aqueduct whose structure is about 12 meters high and supported by 460 brick and masonry arches which support two water channels on the top.
The aqueduct ends in the Tempietto di San Concordio which is actually a cistern built from 1823 to 1825: it is a circular building in Doric neoclassical style, where the water was collected in a double marble basin. From here the water was forced through mighty metal pipes towards the city of Lucca where it fed the complicated system of fountains passing under the Baluardo San Colombano
