Wemding Historic Market Square

The paved marketplace has a nearly square area. He got his present appearance in the 17th and 18th century. The paving has been made or renewed in recent years. It is one of the most beautiful marketplaces in Swabia and is a testimony to a wealthy bourgeoisie.In the middle of the spacious square were once two wells (cattle trough). The old six-tube fountain was replaced in 1837 by a four-tube fountain. Instead of the Madonna on the globe there was formerly the statue of the Bavarian lion.The marketplace is still surrounded by beautiful and now lovingly renovated old town houses.
