The massive church of St. George was built like a cathedral for the old city republic of Nördlingen in just under 80 years - extremely impressive!
It is the largest building in the world made of suevite.
The furnishings with altars and works of art are also very worth seeing.

St. Georg is the Evangelical Lutheran parish church in the middle of the city Nördlingen. Built in 1427-1505, the late-Gothic church with its widely visible tower, the Daniel, is the landmark of the city.
The council of the city of Nördlingen decided to build the St. George's Church on 17 October 1427. The choir of the hall church was completed in 1451, and in 1454 the construction of the tower began. The high altar of Friedrich Herlin was completed in 1462, the tower in 1490. With the completion of the vault in 1505, the construction, which consists largely of Suevit, was completed. Because Nördlingen joined the Reformation under Kaspar Kantz, St. George became a Protestant city church in 1523/1525.

The first restoration of the church took place between 1877 and 1887. On March 30, 1945 at 21:25 clock destroyed a bombshell built in 1889 Steinmeyer organ. On February 2, 1974, a fire destroyed the old baroque organ dating back to 1610. Most recently, the church was restored in the years 1971-1977.
