Mount Amiata is a mountain group of volcanic origin, located in the Tuscan Anti-Apennines, between Maremma, Val d'Orcia and Val di Paglia, between the provinces of Grosseto and Siena. The origin of the toponym Amiata has been identified by some in the Latin ad meata, ie "at the sources".
