A wayside shrine was erected at this point as early as 1725. He carried a baroque essay that showed a Pietà in front and a Maria with child on the back. However, only the base of the original wayside shrine has survived. In 1977 he received a modern essay.

Today's essay bears a Sacred Heart relief and the inscription “St. Heart of Jesus / pray for us ”.

The base shows an oval inscription cartridge on the front. The text is only partially legible. It reads:
