The Bismarck Tower was built on an artificially created plateau, which can be reached on the northwest side via a staircase with 14 steps. The entrance to the 26 m high, round observation tower with lighting is on the northwest side.
The actual tower shaft has two wide reinforcement rings at a height of approx. 8 m and 18 m. The upper reinforcement ring has the inscription “UNSERM BISMARCK DEM GROSSES GERMAN” all around.

    Tower history:
    - The Bismarck Tower was inaugurated on July 29, 1913.
    - In 1918 (year not certain) the tower was bought by a Mr. Mutzenbächer. Since the tax office set the standard value of the tower very high, Mutzenbächer began to demolish the tower. The tax office then relented, but the tower crown had already broken off at this point.
    - The Waldshagen farm was bought by the Böge family in 1936. It was possible for visitors to climb to the viewing platform until 1939. All openings in the tower were then closed with masonry and concrete.
    - The fire bowl was removed in June 1986 and the fire bowl structure was also no longer there.
    - In October 2004 the entrance was closed by a steel door.

The tower, densely overgrown with trees, is located in a small forest 150 m east of Lake Vierer and can only be reached via a trail in the Augstfelde / Waldshagen area.
The 13 remaining steps up to the entrance area (northwestern side) are partly in very poor condition. The lighting system is no longer there.

The Bismarck Column (known as the "Bismarck Column at Lake Vierer See", "Bismarck Column Plön", or "Bismarck Column Plön-Waldshagen") is a "Bismarck Tower" near Waldshagen.
It stands on a small hill in a small forest east of the southern tip of Lake Vierer See, about three kilometers southeast of Plön, and is one of the eight Bismarck Towers in Schleswig-Holstein and one of the numerous monuments erected in honor of Otto von Bismarck. Erected by the former owner of the Waldshagen estate, the column was inaugurated on July 29, 1913.
The Bismarck Column is a circular observation tower approximately 6 meters in diameter and originally 26 meters high. It was constructed from prefabricated, carefully hewn natural stone elements (gray granite) on the outside and bricks on the inside.
The entrance to the Bismarck Column is accessed via a staircase and is adorned with a tall portal. For decorative purposes, the tower features a cornice in the center, where pieces of the natural stone have been removed. In addition, the exterior is enlivened by several small windows and slightly protruding, unevenly hewn stones. At the top is a relief bearing the inscription "OUR BISMARCK, THE GREAT GERMAN." Above it, the column tapers dome-like to the 22-meter-high observation platform. A former structure that supported a fire bowl is now missing.

Tower is tucked away between trees. From here you have a great view over the great landscape.
