May’s Tower ”- the Bismarck Tower in WiesenbadIn the middle of the forest above the village of Wiesenbad, a stone tower sits enthroned on a slope, which is often referred to as “May's Tower”.From a covered, wooden bridge, a path leads directly to the structure built on a rock massif. This Bismarck tower rises 15 meters and is about half its size, on the west-facing side there is a balcony, which is made of a single, continuous stone slab.Inside the rectangular tower, a total of 62 stone steps lead first to a Bismarck memorial room and then all the way up to the observation deck. Here the visitor has an incomparable view far into the Zschopau valley. The tower was built in 1899, inspired by the Wiesenbad manufacturers Johann Gottfried Meyer and Otto Polemann. Together they were the owners of the flax spinning mill in Wiesenbad. Manufacturer Meyer left his own ground with the rocky plateau to build the tower on.Further information: stuelpners-erben.de/2018/08/27/mays-turm-der-bismarckturm-in-wiesenbad
