If you want to visit the bird sanctuary Garstadt should not necessarily look in the place that belongs to the municipality Bergrheinfeld. Because of Gartstadt you can reach the loop around a few lakes and not. Since the separating Main is in the way!Much better: drive over Heidenfeld! Although the municipality Röthlein does not seem to be quite as euphoric, to exactly indicate to motorists, cyclists and hikers, where exactly this bird sanctuary is located, so it can be found, if one informs beforehand: In Heidenfeld two dirt roads lead to Main a parking lot.And from there, the circular walk is a nice walk, maybe an hour long. Depending on the pace and the desire to stay here as well as looking at nature. The view of the steaming nuclear power plant is not so much nicer. But this contrast of towering towers to silent nature is also the charm of the area.Currently, the trail is more like a "bird dirt" area. He is a bit matchy here or there, so you should not wear high heels. But even in winter, the trail can be completed quite well. It leads to a part almost directly along the Main at the height of Garstadt. The highlight is of course to climb the somewhat hidden wooden tower. From the top you have a wonderful overview of the lake landscapes with flora and fauna. Dogs are not allowed. No wonder with so many birds worthy of protection. Maybe that's why the responsible people have forgo an extensive signage so that not so many people disturb the nature.
