The Schans van Gerhees dates from the seventeenth century. This earth fort is a unique piece of history. The fort comprises a rectangle of earthen walls, built in the middle of a fen and surrounded by moats. This made it difficult to discover and reach a refuge, in which the inhabitants of the area could "entrench" themselves against marauding armies and robber bands. After so many centuries, the redoubt now looks like an ordinary, wooded land dune. But if you look closely, you can still discover the remains of the earthen walls and canals. The intention is to restore the "Schans van Gerhees" by establishing it as a cultural heritage, protecting it and opening it to the public.

in the summer the stream is actually too dry, and it is less beautiful in my opinion. In winter there is water on it and when it has frozen well, many people come on skates.
