About half a mile north of the Lower Saline Valley Hot Springs are the Middle (Palm) Springs. Both are an oasis in the desert, a series of gorgeous springs, each with multiple natural geothermal soaking pools scattered in a line along a stretch of dirt road 4 hours bike ride away from pavement (same time by 4x4 car depending on dicey road conditions) over treacherous, rocky dirt roadways. A monster made of tractor parts and a sign with a spooky bat (the hot spring's mascot) welcomes visitors to the Saline Valley Hot Springs. A satisfying reward after the bumpy journey, free camping, clothing optional (i.e. nudist), free-spirited.
