The new Prerow pier, which opened in October 2024, is the longest pier in the entire Baltic Sea region. But it's not just the length that makes this pier special: the highlight is the island harbor.
Where the pier head is at the end of a pier, there is a pier harbor in Prerow. The island harbor is also the actual reason for the new Prerow pier being built. The sea rescue cruiser, whose actual home port was the former emergency harbor Darßer Ort, has found its new home port here. In addition to the cruiser, the island harbor also offers space for 40 sports boats and three fishing boats. In the dark, when the pier is illuminated, I like it even better than during the day!😊

The new pier should be ready this year for the 2024 water sports season.

From the pier in Prerow, the view sweeps over the idyllic coastal landscape to the dunes in front of Darßer Ort. Looking north, you can see a wind farm - one of the first alternative energy sources in the Fischland-Darß-Zingst region. And if you look east, you can see Hiddensee. However, you can only see it when the visibility is clear.
The pier is 395 m long and 3.50 m wide and is a solid structure. It defies high waves and violent storms and, in severe frost, even the pack ice.
This solid pier has been there since 1993.
Passenger ships can actually enter and leave the bridge, as there is a jetty. If it weren't for the constant breeze that blows from the sea, which makes docking a dangerous maneuver for passengers and ships at times, people in Prerow prefer to forgo regular small ship traffic.fischland-darss-zingst.net/prerow/seebruecke/seebruecke-prerow.php
