The church in Garz is a field stone building that was probably built in the 13th century. It is documented that a pastor was already active in Garz in 1231. The gable, west wall and building edges of the towerless church have corner pinnacles. The window and portal walls are made of brick.

The wooden roof turret was demolished in the 19th century because it was dilapidated. The gable roof is now covered with red beaver tail tiles. The windows, enlarged at the end of the 19th century, are framed with round arches. On the east gable there are pointed arches and circular blinds. Some of the windows on the eaves are walled up. The southwest side has younger buttresses.

In the flat-roofed interior there is a sacrament niche with a wooden door from the 16th century on the east wall. The windows are embedded in large segment arch niches. The winter church is set up under the gallery. The altar, pulpit and preacher's stalls date from around 1780. The altar enclosure has openwork ornaments, the preacher's stalls lattice. Two votive ships date from 1770 and 1825 respectively.

The organ with a prospect in neo-renaissance forms was built in 1856 by Kaltschmidt from Stettin. It has round arch panels, a central round arch arcade and crowning palmette as well as semicircular protruding side parts.

The free-standing belfry from 1854 has since been renewed. The bell from 1934 was cast by Franz Schilling from Apolda. Another is to commemorate the dead in Swinoujscie. The cemetery is laid out around the church. The dry stone wall surrounding the churchyard was first mentioned in 1575. An exhibition on the history of Golm can be seen in the church.
