    The complex in the form of a settlement probably existed since the Frankish period: During excavations, fragments from the Carolingian period were found.

    In the 12th century, a massive wooden castle (or a stone building) was built on a central tower hill. The tower hill was 30 meters in diameter. The height of the hill was 5 to 6 meters above the surrounding ground level and about 11 meters above the water line. In front of it was a ditch, to which the inner wall, about five meters wide, was connected. The outer protective wall surrounded the castle complex to the southeast at a distance of around 60 meters. It was provided with a barbican, the southern part of which probably dates from the 13th century. Remains of a picket fence were found. Between the ramparts there were farmsteads where, according to a list of goods from 1611, pig fattening was still being carried out. The total area of the plant was approximately 2.5 ha.
