The Neckarburg and a mill were first mentioned in documents around 1290.
Burned down during the Peasants' War (16th century) and then rebuilt.
The Neckarburg was mainly inhabited by the landed gentry.
Today it is privately owned. Events (cabaret) and rooms for celebrations are offered (neckarburg-events.de).
Tip for cyclists on the Neckar Valley Cycle Path:
Coming from Tübingen, cross the road at the traffic lights by the canal and cycle left (in the direction of flow) along the canal. At the Neckar Bridge you come back onto the official Neckar Valley Cycle Path.

A hiking route past the Neckarburg and its farm buildings is recommended; if you follow the path in front of the hydroelectric power station, you will find a wildly romantic path / climb up to Altenriet.
