Culture island Phoenixsee with Thomas converter

The Thomaskonverter, popularly known as Thomas pear, is a holdover from the steelworks that used to stand on the site of today's Phoenix Lake. The Thomas pear is now on the so-called "culture island" by the lake. Various events are to take place here. From the offshore island, visitors have a good view of the "harbor" and the lake area.
Some seating offers the opportunity to take a break here.
    Translated by
Kulturinsel is a little island hosting regular art and music events at the southwest corner of the man-made Phoenix Lake, created 2010 by filling water into the hole left by excavating the contaminated soil of the removed Phoenix Steel factory which occupied this site since 1840. Connected to the Harbor Promenade with a permanent bridge framed by the artsy Corten Steel gate, the island is also the permanent exhibit of the Thomasbirne, or Thomas Converter, which was used here until 1964 to refine and pour molten steel into moulds.

The pear-shaped 68 ton Thomas Converter, since 2010 a monument on a little island in the small man-made Phoenix lake at the site of the former Phoenix steel plant, was used until 1964 to refine and pour molten steel into moulds. The Thomas process was replaced by a better method at the end of the 1960s fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proc%C3%A9d%C3%A9_Thomas
