In the first half of the 20th century, the village of Hulevik was a small mill with an industry based mainly on wood raw material transported on barges pulled across the lake by steamers. Wood wool was a successful product that was transported by rail from Hulevik and even exported to countries as far as South Africa. Today the village has around 16 permanent apartments and around 40 holiday homes. The village has its own marina and an active village association, which among other things helps when external actors organize fishing competitions, triathlons and various other events.
