The green belt animal is a mixture of wutz, newt and starling: this is the Frankfurt green belt animal. It was put on paper in 2001 by its "discoverer", the cartoonist Robert-Gernhardt, and has since been further developed by the cartoonist Philip Waechter. To the delight of many children who got to know it as the mascot of the Green Belt.
