The Fuhlensee, located directly on Fördestraße K17, has been a nature reserve since 1993. The 43 hectare lowland habitat serves to sustainably secure a pronounced, highly advanced siltation. The characteristic vegetation sequence is made up of species-rich reed beds, an almost closed alder forest belt and botanically valuable fen meadows. The lake belongs to the Bornhöveder chain of lakes.Historically, the impenetrable swampy area probably belonged to the western protective belt of the "Limes Saxoniae". In addition to the kingfisher, the chalk rush, the broad-leaved orchid and marsh fern, the small valerian and fever clover should be emphasized. Today the lake is managed by a fishing club. At the northern end of the lake there is an idyllic forest path, the so-called "engagement path", which offers a beautiful view of the lake.

An idyll for waterfowl, unfortunately only accessible from the street in a few places.
