Ballmertshofen Castle, an interesting Renaissance building from the late 16th century, the seat of former local lords and now also used as a council and school house for the small Härtsfeld community, has housed a collection of around 400, which is probably unique in its richness, since 1978 - with an interruption in the 80s shown pictures and framed sayings from the farmhouses of Härtsfeld. The country doctor Dr. Horst Moeferdt has compiled the extensive collection of wall decorations from the 1950s onwards over decades. First and foremost, these are images of saints that were sold as mass prints by traveling traders or acquired at fairs and that adorned the "holy corner" of the farmers' rooms. But memories of baptism, first communion, confirmation, military service, wedding and death also play an important role.
