Heinz Rinsche was a biology teacher who was heavily involved in nature conservation.
He led many botanical and ornithological excursions in the Emsdettener Venn. The Schutzgemeinschaft Ems was founded under his leadership. The "Ems floodplain protection program", a pilot project of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, was a milestone in his commitment.
