The Kirchfelsen in Obereggersberg is a highlight in the Lower Altmühltal. From one of the most beautiful vantage points in the region you have a wonderful view of the Urdonautal. The remains of Eggersberg Castle, built in the 13th century, are particularly fascinating. Today you can still see the keep, the Holy Cross Chapel and the neck ditch in the ruins.

The last remains of the walls of the old Veste Eggersberg can be found on the church rock, from 1721 to 1806 the Kreuzkirche stood here. From the rock you have a wonderful view of the Altmühltal and the course of the Main Danube Canal. On the opposite bank you can see the historic lock from 1836, it belonged to the Ludwig Donau Main Canal.
