The Brighton West Pier is a popular photo opportunity, a special attraction in Brighton and a wistful reminder of the good old days. From 1866 onwards, one of the proudest pier in all of southern England stood here with a theater and concert hall. After several devastating fires and major sea storms, unfortunately only the skeleton of the West Pier can be seen today; the sight of the former West Pier almost hurts a little. The pier was closed in 1975 and recurring plans to rebuild it have so far remained plans.

All that remains of the West Pier is a metal skeleton, however this strange structure is somewhat beautiful, especially at night. During the winter months, at sunset you can see the Starling perform their murmurations here and nest with the Cormorants on the pier.
