The town of Raupenhain no longer exists today and was probably deserted as a result of the Thirty Years' War (as did the surrounding towns of Schneebach and Obernhain). Thanks to its city walls, Hasselbach came through the turmoil of war better. Raupenhain was located between the upper reaches of the Gansbach and Engelstein rocks, about 1.5 km north-east of Hasselbach. It was first mentioned in 1482. After it was deserted, there was a decades-long dispute over the "Geyersnest" between Hasselbach and Emmershaun.
