The simple tower castle with a floor plan of 12.5 by 11.9 meters was located directly on the frequently used pilgrimage route from the Upper Rhine to Einsiedeln Abbey, 100 meters above the bottom of the Wehn valley on the northern slope of the Lägern mentioned in the 13th and 14th centuries; after 1397 their traces disappear.
During excavations in 1961, during the construction of a forest road in the so-called cobblestone meadow, the remains of the wall of the almost square building were encountered. The walls, which were up to 1.3 meters thick, were uncovered by summer 1962. In the rubble of the replenished cellar, parts of ceramic dishes and tiled stoves, remains of pointed arch windows made of sandstone and a few metal finds such as tools and nails from the 15th to 17th centuries were found.
However, no objects from the Sünikon knighthood were found and it is believed that it is more the pilgrim hostel that was operated there until the 17th century. In the surrounding area one also suspects the pilgrimage chapel Maria Pflasterbach from the 16th century mentioned in many writings.
On the cantonal map by Jos Murer from 1566, a castle named Sünikon is shown as a ruin next to the Pflasterbach chapel. This leads to the assumption that the pilgrim hostel on the Pflasterbach actually stood on the foundations of the castle of those of Sünikon.

Small but fine ruins along the way, but unfortunately besieged by a sect over Easter.
