To date, it is a place full of secrets. For some, it runs cold over their backs when they look through the barbed wire fence. The Lerchenberg, which is hidden between Rischgau, Emersacker and Hegnenbach, Zusamaltheim and Emersacker, has been home to the military, refugees, Bundeswehr soldiers, hobbyists and researchers for decades - and sometimes for dubious characters.

One must not close one's eyes to the past.
You should take something like this as an opportunity to deal with your history, to work something up.
I think history, which is open to the public, could be made known as a plaque on the site. That would take away the uncanniness of the place.
I found the mood bizarre as the buildings, just lit by the faint spring sunlight, stood deserted. Life was missing.
Why can't you see anything of what was planned here.
integration into life.

"Secret factory near Hegnenbach" Augsburger Allgemeine 22.07.17The construction of the secret factory with the code name Z-Hiag began around 1937. In Welden there was a loading ramp for the raw materials and the dangerous cargo. With the operation of the secret factory, 900 tons of coal, 460 tons of methanol, 200 tons of sulfuric acid and five tons of caustic soda are said to have arrived in tank cars by rail every month.
Pentaerythritol was produced from this, as in most of the plants of Paraxol GmbH, a subsidiary of Degussa. The substance was processed with concentrated nitric acid to form nitropenta and finally ended up in ammunition casings. In 1944, production is said to have been switched to rocket fuel.
It is not known how many tons of the explosive precursor were produced in Holzwinkel. 180 tons per month were planned. In 1946, the entire complex was valued by the American occupiers at over twelve million Reichsmarks.
