3398 meters. Under its shade, in the area called Corral del Veleta, located at the foot of its northern pit, there is a permafrost area with fossil ice that is estimated from the last glaciation, 13,000 years ago, which shows that Sierra Nevada was a glacial area active

At the top - it's done! Without clouds you have a magnificent view.

The Pico de Veleta, with an altitude of 3398.68 meters above sea level, is the fourth highest peak in Spain and second in its mountain range, only behind Teide (Tenerife), Mulhacén (Sierra Nevada) and Aneto (Pyrenees).
I would recommend seeing the wind before going up and the weather, as everything happens in the mountains in minutes.

Highly recommended to hike up all the way to the summit. It is a good idea to prepare for strong winds on the way, though.

At least in 2022 it was possible to make a day trip from Granada taking Sierra Nevada bus to Pradollano, allowing plenty of time to hike up to the mountain and back down, before the return journey by bus.
