This light battle tank was handed over to the municipality of Spichern on May 8, 1997 together with a memorial stone. The 70th US Infantry Division, the so-called "Trailblazers", liberated the town on February 21, 1945 and pushed the Wehrmacht back from the "Spichern position" into the Reich.
On December 24, 1939, Adolf Hitler, accompanied by Colonel Erwin von Witzleben, who later became the resistance fighter and then commander-in-chief of the 1st Army, was said to have delivered his Christmas speech on the troops that were still provisional at the time.
