Bike Touring Highlight
The fish ladder Gambsheim is the largest in Europe. In 1997 Germany and France reached an agreement to build fish ladders in Iffezheim and Gambsbach. They are to allow the fish, despite the barrages to get to their spawning grounds. In Gambsheim salmon, eels, trout and river herring can be observed in an observation room on their way upstream.

Even if you have not seen any fish, it's still an impressive technical achievement

Very great highlight, which is definitely worth a visit. In the fish ladder you will learn all sorts of interesting facts and it is a special experience to watch the swimming fish through the glass.

If you come from the French side, I recommend to use the cycle lane on the left side, which leads optimally through the fish ladder. If you drive on the other, the actually "right" side, you have to cross the busy road.
