Nicknamed "Padre Eterno", the Campo Forte Luserna was built between 1908 and 1912 to control the Vezzena Pass during the First World War.

Fort Werk Lusérn "The Father Almighty"
Built between 1908 and 1912, Forte Lusérn stands on the summit of Cima Campo, at an altitude of 1549m. He boasted the title of "Eternal Father".
In combination with Fort Busa Verle had the task of controlling the Passo Vézzena pass.
Armament consisted of four armored cupola howitzers, two 8 cm cannons and 19 machine gun emplacements.
It also had the Oberwiesen and Viaz outposts, forward positions reached through a tunnel and a walkway traced out in the woods.
The first days of the war it suffered a heavy bombardment which forced it to wave the white flag of surrender, avoided by a whisker.
