The fairytale lake is a former opencast mine and is said to be very deep. In the past, embedded in a dark spruce forest, it was a magical attraction for us children, especially in winter. Here you learned to skate and played ice hockey for hours. If the ice wasn't quite strong yet, it sometimes happened that you broke in at the edge. During my visit today, I was horrified to discover that the surrounding forest is virtually non-existent. Smaller water lily fields still bear witness to its original beauty.
