Superb coastal scenery, smugglers’ coves, wild hill summits and gorgeous fishing villages await during your walks on the Isle of Man. Whether you’re local or arriving at the capital and historic port town of Douglas from across the Irish Sea, there are plenty of adventures to enjoy on this beautiful island.

The most iconic hike on the Isle of Man is Raad ny Foillan (the Way of the Gull), a stunning 102-mile (164 km) loop of the coastline. Whether taking on the full route or just sampling sections of this majestic coast, expect incredible scenery and wonderful encounters with seabirds, such as kittiwakes, manx shearwaters, puffins and guillemots. Sea stacks, headlands and coves are just some of the bewitching examples of natural architecture you’ll encounter.

Head into its wild interior to take on the Isle of Man’s wonderful hills. There are plenty of characterful, grassy summits to discover and the island reaches its 2,037-foot (621 m) zenith on Snaefell. From the trig point are huge views across the Irish Sea. It is said that six kingdoms can be seen from the top: the Isle of Man, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Heaven.
