An unspoilt market town in the lovely Vale of Evesham, walks around Pershore reward with quintessential English charm. Nestled on the banks of Shakespeare’s Avon, its elegant Georgian streets, historic bridges and its 1,000-year-old abbey are perfect for an afternoon stroll, while it doesn’t take long to stride out into some of Worcestershire’s finest countryside.
Mere minutes from the High Street, you can discover Avon Meadows Community Wetland, often referred to as Pershore Meadows. Created as a prevention measure in the wake of the 2007 floods, today the area is resplendent with wildlife and hosts boardwalks and trails to allow you to take a close look at its inhabitants.
For woodland hikes around Pershore, head west to Tiddesley Wood, which is a cornucopia of colour in spring. For a hill walk, look no further than Bredon Hill on the very northern cusp of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Once an Iron Age hillfort, today it is a popular viewpoint for the Malvern Hills, the Cotswolds and beyond.
