At 1,856 meters, Prestholtskaret offers a breathtaking view over Hallingskarvet National Park, with Hardangervidda and Hardangerjøkulen visible in the distance. The ascent follows the famous Sherpa Stairs, leading through dramatic landscapes to this high-mountain plateau.

If the weather is (or has been) rainy, run the route in the opposite direction so that you have the narrow, wet single trails uphill and can do the descent on better gravel paths.

The way to the summit is quite easy if you follow the blue dots. Before that, however, you have to be careful with some steeper gravel passages
