An iconic seaside town, perched above glorious sandy beaches and offering beautiful coastal walking, hikes around Tenby are marvellous. A gem of the Pembrokeshire Coast, Tenby is one of Wales’ most picture-perfect places. After exploring its quaint narrow streets and taking in the Georgian and Victorian architecture of the old town, seek serenity on its superb coast trails or use the town as a great base for exploring the wider Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
Within the town, Castle Hill and St Katherine’s Island are obvious objectives. Castle Hill rewards with lovely views of the town, while St Katherine’s Island’s fort stands proud on exposed foundations that rise dramatically from a vibrant strip of beach.
A sandy stroll along South Beach eventually brings you to the headland of Giltar Point, a superb spot to look out across the sea, spot the seabirds and admire Caldey Island. To the north, Allen’s View, a woodland garden that affords spectacular vistas from its hilltop position, is a particularly beautiful place to seek out.
