Explore the Hohenzollern Jakobsweg, which presents itself as an exciting combination of a historic trade route and a pilgrimage path, leading you through the Swabian Alb. Over a length of around 75 kilometers, the Jakobsweg connects Hechingen, near the impressive Hohenzollern Castle, with Sigmaringen, passing through the picturesquely embedded valleys of the Starzel, Fehla, and Lauchert rivers. Your journey continues through the wide-open landscapes via Meßkirch to Pfullendorf, always in the presence of the magnificent Swabian Alb.

This remarkable path follows the traces of old trade routes and is marked by the well-known symbol of the Jakob pilgrims - the yellow shell. Along your way, you will encounter carefully placed information boards at important pilgrim stations, providing deeper insights into the cultural and historical significance of the route. Due to its easy accessibility, with the exception of a challenging ascent between Killer and Ringingen, the trail is suitable for both hiking beginners and experienced adventurers. I have divided the Hohenzollern Jakobsweg into four stages for this collection, each covering fifteen to twenty kilometers. During your hike, you will pass by rustic villages, traverse idyllic valleys, and have the opportunity to discover numerous cultural treasures, including sacred church buildings, the breathtaking Hohenzollern Castle Sigmaringen, as well as mysterious places like the Devil's Bridge or mystical caves and ruins.

You have the choice of whether to complete the entire route or select individual sections. The Hohenzollern Jakobsweg offers flexibility in your hiking plans, and thanks to the good connection to public transport, you can easily reach your starting point or adapt your route individually.

🛏 Along the Hohenzollern Jakobsweg, there is a variety of accommodation options ranging from simple pilgrim hostels to cozy guesthouses and hotels. These not only offer a warm bed after a long day of hiking but also provide insight into local hospitality and cuisine.

🧭 The Jakobsweg through the Swabian Alb is classified as easy to moderate. With good basic fitness, you can manage the occasional ascents without any problems. The distances of the individual stages are chosen so that both day-trippers and long-distance hikers will find suitable sections.

🥾 Sturdy footwear is essential due to the partly natural paths. Additionally, be prepared for changeable weather and carry appropriate sun and rain protection. Water bottles can be refilled at various points; however, it is advisable to always have enough drinking water with you.
