Maishofen is a small village in the Pinzgauer Grasberge region and just a stone’s throw from Lake Zell. There’s a lot to explore in the area – even on two wheels – perfect for Saskia and Hans, who love to discover new mountain landscapes by mountain bike! Their preference is for narrow singletrack, but as long as the views are good, they’re happy. In Maishofen, they were very happy.
"Maishofen attracted us in particular with a Tour to the Hundstein, the highest green mountain in the Pinzgau that can be cycled up. That's why we did it right on our arrival day! And it was lucky, because unfortunately the weather was not so good in the following days. The subsequent Tour to similar altitudes was then not as scenic as it could have been. So, rather than summit Tours, we did two more leisurely rounds down in the valley, where lush green meadows, colourful Alpine flowers and rustic farms awaited us.
The village of Maishofen is the perfect starting point for many bike Tours of different types and intensities. With the Glemmtal Cycleway and the Tauern Cycle Path, you’ve got two well-known cycling routes for lengthy Tours on a road bike or a trekking bike. You can really stack up the miles on these and enjoy the serenity of the idyllic landscape. The mountains on both sides of the valley, as well as above the side valleys, offer a variety of forest tracks that are perfect for gravel or mountain bikes. And, those looking for some of Austria's best singletrack will also find them not far from Maishofen."
