The combination of bike and train means only one thing to me: summer holidays. I have many wonderful memories of relaxing in the carriages and watching the scenery unfold before our eyes, excited about what lay ahead. But the train is also a great solution for day trips.
In this Collection, you’ll find eight cycling Tours that are easily accessible by train from Milan. They’re ideal for those taking their first steps in the world of bike touring and for those looking for more challenging routes. The routes are flexible, so you can adapt them to your pace and needs, always with the convenience of having a station close at hand. Each route is unique; some take you to little-known places, while others guide you through the best-loved roads for cyclists.
Do you prefer the mountains? Immerse yourself in Val Bregaglia with a Tour on the Valchiavenna Cycle Path, a journey that will take you all the way to the Swiss border. If you prefer valleys and rivers, the Val Brembana offers a Tour that starts directly from Bergamo. And for a dip in the Po Valley, nothing beats the agricultural route that connects Milan to Lodi. Let's not forget the cycle routes of Lambro Park and Ticino Park, which will let you experience nature without straying too far from the city. You’ll also experience Sentierone della Brianza, a green corridor connecting Brianza to Lecco, and Bosco delle Sorti Nature Park of the Partecipanza di Trino Vercellese, an enchanting place.
A touring bike is the best option for the routes, preferably with front suspension for the unpaved sections. You can see this Collection as a treasure map, directing you to new lands to discover, new routes to conquer and new stories to live, all while enjoying the comfort and scenery of a train ride. So, get your bike and water bottle ready, put on your favourite helmet, and discover Lombardy, in all its wild beauty.

Cycling along the Valchiavenna cycle path is a bit like reading a book with many different chapters. Every trait has a story to tell, every landscape is a new paragraph in a narrative that unites nature and culture. For over 2,000 years this route has been used to connect northern Italy with central…

The Lambro river cycle path is more to be considered a cycle path than a real cycle path. The route alternates stretches on its own with others on state roads, albeit secondary and with little traffic. It is one of those fun, constantly changing routes that cross cities, towns, rivers, parks and old…

The Ticino park: a green lung that extends like a lush carpet between Milan, Varese and Pavia. This is one of those places where nature still has the upper hand and where biodiversity is a treasure chest full of treasures to be discovered with every pedal stroke.

I designed this Collection with those who live in Milan in mind, and taking care to choose the most beautiful itineraries around the city that can be reached by train. In this Tour, however, you start pedaling right away, which makes it useful for all those people who - going against the grain - want…

This is one of those adventures that makes you remember why cycling can be so much more than a way to get from point “A” to point “B”. This Tour gives you an overview of everything that Brianza can offer, and it does so at a pace that allows you to savor every moment.

Piedmont is not just Turin and the Langhe. Have you ever cycled in the Vercelli countryside? Today I propose you a two-wheel tour that starts from Vercelli, a city rich in history, and which gets lost in the rice fields.
Incredible but true: Vercelli is less than an hour by train from Milan (taking a…
