La Rhune, or Larrun in Basque, is a distinctive mountain in the Pyrenées of the French Basque Country. Its peak is 901 meters high and towers over a twelve-kilometer long and six-kilometer wide massif, offering trail runners of all levels a wide range of routes.

This collection invites you to discover this unique massif full of wonders that you explore on fun and enjoyable running loops. I present to you ten routes, ordered here by length starting with the shortest, ranging between four and 32 kilometers. They all offer you wonderful panoramic views of the Basque Country, its coast, and the surrounding peaks. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced trail runner, these routes offer you great adventures amidst the rugged nature of the region.

In this massif on the edge of the Pyrenées, you can go running all year round, but I advise against it in winter or during rainy weather. Sunny days are much nicer. Then you can fully enjoy the countless panoramas that open up to you. I recommend bringing enough water. Although you will pass by huts and there is a restaurant on the peak, their opening season and times are unpredictable. Trail running shoes are the right companions for the stony paths of the Basque Country.

All routes start from the free car park at the end of the Chemin Xurien Borda in Olhette near Ascain, opposite the Hotel Trabenia. This is the ideal starting point for the many paths leading to La Rhune, including the GR 10 and the HRP (Haute Route Pyrénéenne).
