‘A tall man with a tall body, a dry face, stretched and thinned limbs, with dark hair, a bent and slightly crooked nose, with a big, black and drooping moustaches’. Don Quixote of La Mancha invites you to be part of his tragic and comic adventures in search of his platonic love, Dulcinea del Toboso.

This Collection takes you to the most authentic places of the deepest La Mancha in Spain, that were once ridden by the ingenious nobleman and that have many stories to tell. They’re places that make you feel like time has stopped.

This exciting route, shaped like a blade, is the best way I can think of to link the adventures of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. The four blades begin and end in Alcázar de San Juan. This way, you can complete them as four micro-adventures if you don't have enough time to cover the 1,000 or so kilometres (620 mi) in the same trip.

Alcazar de San Juan, the epicentre of this Collection, is easy to reach with public transport – train or bus. It has all your basic needs covered and even bike shops, in case you need a last minute mechanical fix.

This adventure mostly follows roads, although it also uses some almost traffic-free lanes. All you need is a bike that’s comfortable for long distances and has a reasonably wide tyre. This way, you’ll be able to get into the most rural La Mancha and enjoy the area’s unusual natural beauty.

The route is suitable any time of the year. Just keep in mind that winters can be very cold, with sub-zero temperatures. On the other hand, summers are hot. I recommend checking the weather forecast before starting your adventure to make sure you’re prepared and enjoy your trip to the fullest.

Now it's time to get on your bike and embark on the mysterious trail that Don Quixote once left behind.
